Reading a Nutrition Label in Thirty Seconds

Check the serving size first. Everything else on the panel is meaningless until you know what portion it describes.

Then look at added sugar, protein and fibre in that order. A snack with more added sugar than protein is a dessert, whatever the front of the pack says.

Finally, scan the ingredient list. If the first three ingredients are refined flour, sugar and palm oil, the rest of the label is decoration.
